- I've recently applied to teach English in Japan for the JET program (Japanese Exchange and Teaching program) in 2016. - Japanese Tutor; Eugene, Oregon: 2015 Instructed pupils in learning Japanese language Created quizzes and tests based from curriculum Introduced new vocabulary and grammar - Camp Counselor/Adult Staff, 4-H Wildlife Stewards; Salem, Oregon: 2008 - 2013 Communicated leadership by being a positive mentor and role model Resolved disputes between campers and counselors Motivated campers and counselors to collaboratively complete projects quickly Facilitated new ideas and critical thinking to promote social and environmental awareness Taught a crafts class to ten children (2nd-5th graders) Utilized creativity and ability to collaborate to produce original skits -From 2013- 14 I studied abroad in Tokyo, Japan where I did a home stay and completed a year of school at Waseda University. There, I took half of my classes in English (literature, history, etc) and the other half in Japanese (studying children's Japanese literature, taking advanced Japanese language classes that practiced reading, writing, speaking, and listening.) -I won 1st place in an International poetry contest in 2012. -I'm hoping to go to Japan one day to teach English so I'm looking forward to gaining teaching experience.
